Kids & Community
The Nelsonville Music Festival has plenty of great activities for kids!

Don't miss our kids area at the festival which will include:
• Community Mural Project
• Workshops
• Live music and other performances
• Make and take activites
• Art projects
A big thanks goes out to the Federal Hocking High School Art and Drama Clubs for helping us out in the kids area!
Here are some examples of activities from previous years:
• Making handmade instruments, such as canjelo’s (can banjos) and other arts and crafts activities.
• A children's music parade
• Children have participated in the 8’x16’ interactive Community Mural in past years, designed and prepped by Federal Hocking students then fully painted by all who attended the festival.
The finished murals have been exhibited at Stuart’s Opera House and might even serve as the backdrop to next year’s stage at Nelsonville Music Festival! Thanks to Ellen Hadley for spearheading this project, and being instrumental in its ability to be created! • All festival goers are invited to paint the Community Mural!
The Nelsonville Music Festival has also previously exhibited the Federal Hocking Middle School’s Children’s Guernica Peace Mural.
The mural is part of "Kids' Guernica," an international student project that creates paintings of peace the size of Picasso's masterpiece. The paintings will tour around the world. The local project was funded through the Dairy Barn Southeastern Ohio Cultural Arts Center. Kids collaborated with artist-in-residence Katie Pearce, a mural designer with Elements of Nature, an interior mural design company in Columbus.
