Formed in 2011, Alvvays is an indie-pop band that draws its self-described “jangle pop” sound from strong melodies and lead singer Molly Rankin’s Celtic roots. The band consists of Rankin’s childhood neighbor, keyboardist Kerri MacLellan, guitarist Alec O’Hanley, bassist Brian Murphy, and drummer Sheridan Riley. They got their start by touring extensively, opening for bands such as the Decemberists and Peter Bjorn and John. A few strong sets at SXSW led to the release of their first album in 2014, Alvvays. The LP, called an “indie-pop wonder, steeped in romance, wit and melody” by Rolling Stone, reached #1 on the US College Charts. Their highly-anticipated newest album, Antisocialites, was released in September of last year.
