SUNDAY, JUNE 3 at 12:00 PM // BOXCAR STAGE
Kay Carter has worked with many different bands during her musical adult life. She took up the trumpet many years after high school playing blues and then joined The Word Of Mouth Jazz Band performing improv jazz and singing some of the great jazz tunes of our time. R&B Station Band provided a great venue for Kay to perform during the years that her family was growing up. Kay went on to start her own group, “The Kay Carter Project.” So many great musicians/friends played and supported her project through the years.
Kay has performed shows with Mark Pender, trumpet player for the Conan O’Brien show, The Music in the Schools Program, and Shirley King (daughter of B.B. King), traveling, singing, playing trumpet in many venues with Ms. King such as Windsor, Canada, Washington, D.C., Madams Organ, Fat Fish Blue, Cleveland and Newport, Kentucky, The Stevie Ray Vaughan Blues Club, Louisville, Kentucky, The Cherokee Blues Festival, Iowa, The Waterfront, Coloma, Michigan, and The Hard Rock Cafe, Pittsburgh.
Kay also joined another trio, “The Yellow Pages,” playing guitar and providing vocals. The trio worked on cruise ships such as The Norwegian Star, and The Fantasy, Carnival Cruise Line as featured performers.
Always reinventing herself, Kay performs as a solo guitar/vocalist doing R&B, Jazz, Blues, Folk, and contemporary genres. She also performs with the Coolville Hot Club, The Honeybees, and The Word Of Mouth Jazz Band.
